Someone in a stepparent support group I’m a part of recommended this to me the other day, and I am so thankful I took her advice and bought it! This book is one of the best and most helpful books I’ve ever read. It’s funny, fun, easy to read, but most importantly REAL. The author is an actual stepmom, not just a psychologist or other “expert” who gives advice (albeit with good intentions), but never has lived it themselves. I can’t tell you how many times I nodded my head in agreement throughout the chapters or said “Amen!” or “I know what that’s like!” out loud while reading. If you are involved with a partner who has kids, whether you’re married or not, I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to read this!!!

This book really helped me get through a lot of tough issues that were just going through my head. Even though I picked up this book a few years down the road of being a stepmom, it really helped me rethink about letting go of things you can’t control, and other issues that no one other than stepmoms know. It was really refreshing because I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this stuff. Have mom friends but not any step mom friends, and there is a HUGE difference. The biggest thing I got from this book was how to deal with the ex/mother of the child. And the fact that a lot of moms of separated families seem to be crazy! Lots of really amazing tools to help with that and knowing that there’s more than just me dealing with this. I only wish I found it sooner!
